Scavenger was the first map of mine to be implemented into Halo 5: Guardians Matchmaking. The map was designed as a large and foreboding sci-fi junk yard, with lanes of vehicular and infantry pathing circling throughout the rusty mess.

Throughout its months of development, Scavenger saw constant reiterations and redesigns as a result of community testing and feedback. Working well for both casual and competitive play, Scavenger hits its stride with objective play, in which matches are consistently exciting and balanced.

My design goals were to create a ‘vehicular playground’ in which Halo 5: Guardians primary combat vehicle, the Warthog, could flow seamlessly through. different lanes and jumps on the map, while keeping it interlocked with infantry combat so that the two were constantly intertwined.

A big challenge for this design was balancing engagements between infantry players and vehicle drivers. I managed to remedy this issue by keeping a theme of circular movement in mind for both infantry and vehicle paths, creating an easily traversed environment for both.
Scavenger has often been praised for its exciting verticality, and constant player cycling.
